This is the Tamiya Heinkel He 219 UHU build straight from the box. The only items replaced are the seatbelts, that came as decals and did not look the part. The Uhu was my first Tamiya kit I built and was a real joy - leaving very little to be desired. The demanding task was in fact the paint job. I used Tamiya acrylics for the paint job - the colors mixed by myself and good judgment. Sometimes, I get betrayed by this type of paint, because they never seem to dry completely and have a tendency to accept fingerprints still after weeks of applying. Nevermind, they are fantastic to spray and have a real glossy finish, perfect for decals. What I like most is the fact, that these acrylics are almost resistant to my method of weathering with oilpaint and turpentine oil. By the way - decals for this kit are printed by Scale Master - absolutely thin and clear.

Reference for the Uhu was hard to find - the only booklet I have comes from Schiffer -ISBN: 0-88740-819-2

Since I build this kit in 1997, many aftermarket items for the He 219 appeared, mainly from Aires and CMK.
